  • 104th FW supports COVID-19 testing task force

    Fourteen members of the 104th Fighter Wing were activated to support Task Force Maher starting Oct. 12, 2021, throughout the state of Massachusetts. Task Force Maher is a joint Air and Army National Guard medical mission that established teams to help with COVID-19 testing of students and staff in 12 Massachusetts school districts. Members are currently on standby and remaining flexible to ensure support of the community.
  • 104th Fighter Wing conducts midpoint inspection readiness exercise, gauges abilities

    Barnestormers across the 104th Fighter Wing conducted a readiness exercise as part of the wing’s midpoint inspection November 4-6, 2021 at Barnes Air National Guard Base, Massachusetts. Midpoint inspections are conducted to evaluate the wing’s Commander’s Inspection Program and to evaluate the wing’s capabilities to respond to threats in a contested, degraded and operationally limited environment. 
  • 104th Medical Group trains on medical care, combat tactics

    Members of the 104th Medical Group attended a two-day Tactical Combat Casualty Care course through the Center for Education, Simulation & Innovation with Hartford HealthCare Sept. 18-19, 2021, in Hartford, Connecticut. During the interactive event members were taught the goals of TCCC, which are to treat the casualties, prevent additional casualties, and complete the mission. They were also taught the three phases of TCCC; care under fire, tactical field care, and tactical evacuation care.
  • Service members earn German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge

    Service members tested their military proficiency with the goal of earning the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge Sept. 9-11 at Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts. Eight Airmen represented the 104th Fighter Wing during the three-day event. “Competing at the GAFPB was an awesome experience,” said Staff Sgt. Sara Kolinski, 104th Fighter Wing public affairs specialist. “It's a great opportunity to push yourself and see what you are capable of. Crossing over the finish line after the ruck on the last day is such a satisfying feeling.”
  • Lanesborough, MA native serves community in dual roles as firefighter, MA ANG Airman

    Here at the 104th Fighter Wing, our Barnstormers pride themselves in their involvement and support of their communities. One of the wing’s newest Barnestormers: Staff Sgt. Caitlyn Durant, a weapons load crew team member with the 104th Fighter Wing’s Weapons Flight, exemplifies 104FW community dedication through her involvement as a volunteer firefighter in her hometown of Lanesborough, Massachusetts.
  • Reflecting on MA Army, Air National Guard assisting D.C. civil authorities in Capitol Response Mission

    From January to mid-May the Massachusetts Army and Air National Guard partnered with several other state’s National Guard units from across the country to provide assistance to federal law enforcement agencies in Washington, D.C. with security, communications, medical evacuation, logistical and safety support to state, district and federal agencies.

  • Barnestormer Turns Tragedy into Hope, Excels In Career

    One of Barnes newest members Master Sgt. Erica Griffinking exemplifies our Barnestormer leader attributes and goes above and beyond displaying perseverance, integrity, courage and initiative. She is the only dental assistant in the 104th Medical Group and provides the highest quality dental care to service members. In addition to her work at the 104th, she supports the military by volunteering with the suicide prevention hotline and works at the 102nd Intelligence Wing in Airman and Family Readiness.

    Airmen gathered to honor 13 Airmen fallen in flight from the 104th Fighter Wing who have given their lives in performance of their duties to the state and country during the annual F-100 Memorial Rededication Ceremony, May 21, 2021, at Barnes Air National Guard Base, Massachusetts.
