080313 - Senator Warren to visit the 104th Fighter Wing at Barnes Air National Guard Base on August 5

Sen. Elizabeth A Warren, D-Mass, is scheduled to visit the 104th Fighter Wing at Barnes Air National Guard Base on Monday, Aug 5, 2013.

"We will provide a tour of our base and facilities, and discuss our current runway construction project," said Col. James Keefe, 104th Fighter Wing Commander. "The timing of her visit is ideal, as the construction commences on the same day of her visit. We are pleased to share the groundbreaking construction project of the runway with Senator Warren, and we look forward to discussing future opportunities," said Keefe.

Due to the runway construction, the personnel and aircraft assigned to the 104th Fighter Wing's 24/7 alert mission are temporarily stationed at Otis Air National Guard Base, on Joint Base Cape Cod. Furthermore, the personnel and aircraft that support the 104th Fighter Wing's F-15 training are temporarily stationed at Westover Air Reserve Base.

"I am looking forward to Senator Warren's visit at Barnes and the opportunity to share our mission, accomplishments and challenges," said Maj. Gen. L. Scott Rice, The Adjutant General of the Massachusetts National Guard. On behalf of our men and women in uniform, we thank Senator Warren for her continued support."

Also in attendance with Maj. Gen. Rice, will be Brig. Gen. Gary Keefe, Assistant Adjutant General (Air), Massachusetts National Guard, along with 104th Fighter Wing Group Commanders.
