BARNES AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, WESTFIELD, Mass. – The 104th Fighter Wing Fire Department’s 21st annual volunteer golf tournament will take place on Friday, August 24, 2018. The tournament benefits the Friends of the Soldier’s Home in Holyoke providing equipment and supports Veterans’ activities above and beyond those budgeted by the Soldier’s Home.

The tourney is sold-out, and 144 golfers will be teeing off at 9:45 a.m. followed by a banquet at approximately 4: 00 p.m. at the South Hampton Country Club.

The 104th FW Military Fire Chief, Larry Buell, explained “The 104th FW firemen and community members have taken part in the golf tournament for 21 years supporting various organizations in our community. The past 13 years has been in support of the veterans at the Holyoke Soldier’s home.”

“On behalf of the 265 veterans and 350 caregivers, we are so very thankful for all you and your family have done for the veterans and caregivers of the Soldiers Home in Holyoke,” said Bennett Walsh, superintendent of the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home. “The projected donations from this year and the 13 year totals are inspiring.”

The estimated donation from this year’s event will be $15,000.00. This year’s projected donation will bring the 13 year total to $125,000.00. The 104th Fighter Wing Fire Department hosts the tournament with over 80 key community donors, sponsors and contributors.
