104th Fighter Wing Remains Vigilant during Government Shutdown

BARNES AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, WESTFIELD, Mass. – The 104th Fighter Wing will continue executing the Aerospace Control Alert mission during the government shutdown initiated on January 20.

“The 104th Fighter Wing is prepared to continue essential operations during the government shutdown,” said Col. James M. Suhr, 104th Fighter Wing Commander.  “During the government shutdown there will be an impact to normal training required to maintain combat readiness.  However, a small cadre of essential personnel will continue our 24/7 Command and Control mission and our 24/7 Aerospace Control Alert mission responsible for safeguarding Air Sovereignty in the northeast United States.  If a local or state emergency occurs, the wing will be ready to call in the appropriate personnel to respond when tasked.”

The 104th Fighter Wing is committed to maintaining a positive and productive relationship with our community and serving our airmen who are members of this community.
