Brooks Jr., 104th Fighter Wing Commander and Mr. Brian Barnes, Barnes Airport Manager, graciously welcomed Admiral Michael Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and his wife Deborah as they debarked their aircraft at Barnes Airport on 29 October. The Chairman was honored with an award from the 'Soldier On' committee in Holyoke for his work to benefit homeless veterans. The award dinner was hosted at the Log Cabin banquet facility and was attended by Col James Keefe, 104th Fighter Wing's Vice Commander. 'Soldier On' is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to abolish veteran homelessness through providing sustainable housing.
