Colonel Michael P. Glass

Colonel Michael P. Glass is the is the Deputy Wing Commander, 104th Fighter Wing, Barnes Air National Guard Base, Westfield, Massachusetts. In this role, he ensures the unit is mission ready and can effectively support the alert homeland defense and the expeditionary deployment missions with the assigned F-15C Eagles and over 1000 military and civilian personnel. As the 104th Fighter Wing enters conversion to the F-35A, Colonel Glass also ensures the members of the Wing are prepared for the upcoming changes in mission and aircraft.
Colonel Glass entered the Air Force after graduating from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He earned his pilot wings at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi in 2005 and remained at Columbus as an instructor pilot until 2008. Colonel Glass trained in the F-15C at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida and then served an operational tour in the 44th Fighter Squadron at Kadena Air Base, Japan from 2009 to 2013. He served as Detachment Commander and Wing Chief Instructor Pilot at Taif Air Base, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 2013 to 2014. Following this tour, Colonel Glass joined the 104th Fighter Wing in 2014 and attended the United States Air Force Weapons School in 2015. After eighteen months serving as the 131st Fighter Squadron Weapons Officer, Colonel Glass was selected to return to Nellis Air Force Base as a United States Air Force Weapons School Instructor from 2016 to 2019. He returned to Barnes Air National Guard Base in 2020 and took command of the 131st Fighter Squadron.
Colonel Glass is a Command Pilot with more than 2800 flight hours and has participated in combat support deployments flying in Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, ATLANTIC RESOLVE, and NOBLE EAGLE. Colonel Glass is a full-time pilot with the Massachusetts Air National Guard and maintains instructor and evaluator qualifications. In August of 2025, he completed F-35A qualification training at Luke AFB, Arizona in preparation for the 104th Fighter Wing conversion to the Fifth-Generation Fighter. Prior to his current position, the Colonel was the 104th Operations Group Commander, 104th Fighter Wing, Barnes Air National Guard Base, Westfield, Massachusetts.
