104th Fighter Wing Thunderbolt Council Gives Back to the Community

BARNES AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, WESTFIELD, Mass. – The 104th Fighter Wing and the Thunderbolt Council will present a donation check to the Westfield Youth Athletics at Westfield City Hall on Wednesday, May 16th at 10:00 a.m.

 

The Thunderbolt Council donation will be delivered to Mr. Scott Hathaway, Deputy Director of Westfield Parks and Recreation.  The check will be presented by Col. Peter T. Green the 104th Fighter Wing Vice Commander, Mr. Edward J. Gunning the Treasurer of the Thunderbolt Council, and Mr. Gary Hagar the President of the Thunderbolt Council. “We know that this donation will be helpful to the Parks and Recreation Department programs here in Westfield,” said Green. “We are proud to be able to help a few families that might not have the financial means to participate in programs this summer.”

 

The Thunderbolt Council organization supports the men and women of the 104th Fighter Wing and together they are able to give back to the community that contributes to their everyday lives.

 

The Thunderbolt Council, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) corporation charged with supporting and promoting the mission and personnel of the 104th Fighter Wing (104FW), Massachusetts Air National Guard Base, Westfield, Massachusetts.  Activities of the corporation include, but are not limited to organizing, supporting, promoting, coordinating and managing air shows and all related activities and events on behalf of the 104th Fighter Wing.

The 104th Fighter Wing provides highly trained personnel ready to provide Air Superiority on demand anywhere in the world with assigned F-15C Eagle Aircraft. The 104th also sits 24/7 Aerospace Control Alert, providing armed F-15 fighters ready to scramble in a moment's notice to protect the northeast United States from any airborne threat protecting one-quarter of the nation's population and over one-third of the Gross Domestic Product.  The Wing is always on call to provide emergency response to include security, logistics, communications, explosive ordnance disposal, firefighting, and medical support to the nation and Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
